Tea @ The Quay

Tea @ The Quay is a charming café tucked away on Exeter's historic Quay side, which instantly transports you to a world of relaxation with its warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're taking a break from exploring the area or just popping in for a cup of tea, this quaint spot is ideal for taking 5 to unwind. Sit outside on a warm day and watch the world go by or sit inside the small but charming café area.

I popped in yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to be able to sit outside in January and catch a few rays of sun whilst enjoying a cappuccino. The cappuccino was notably delightful; it's clear they know how to brew a strong, smooth cup. The service, from ordering at the counter to the drink being brought to my table, was efficient and courteous, leaving a good impression overall. Aside from coffee, Tea @ The Quay boasts a small but tempting menu. The cake and scone selection looked very tempting and they also offer a high tea for two. They also cater to more substantial cravings with their offering of sandwiches, paninis and the traditional Ploughman’s lunch.

For tea lovers, the highlight of this café is the loose leaf tea, offering an elevated taste experience as opposed to standard tea bags. They clearly take their tea seriously, which is a definite plus. Another exciting addition to their menu is the brunch items. Simple, yet wholesome dishes like poached eggs on toast, avocado on toast, and the bacon sandwich present a perfect place to enjoy brunch in a lovely setting on Exeters Quay. Overall, Tea @ The Quay is a pleasant spot for both a quick coffee or a more relaxed bite to eat. With its decent selection of cakes and lunch items, efficient service, and beautiful location on the Quay side, it provides a good choice for those seeking a cosy, local café experience.
